About the Hike:
Find out how Starved Rock State Park got its name by hiking the short loop up to the top of the rock. Learn about the history of the park and get some of the best views of the Illinois River of anyplace in the park. This hike takes you right by the Visitors Center as well.
Suggested Route:
Start in the Visitor Center Parking lot and walk past the Visitor Center. Take the first left you can up the stairs. After reaching the top, take the first right you can and make your way to the top of the Rock. The trail up top is a loop and will bring you down the same stairs you go up.
Difficulty:
Easy
Relatively short hike on either concrete or wood boardwalk. Few moderate staircases on the way up.
