Hennepin Canyon Overlook

Length

1 - 1.5 hr

Difficulty

Moderate

About the Hike:

If you are looking for serenity on a cool winter day, you have found the right trail. Since you are unable to hike down below into Hennepin Canyon, this hike allows you to still see the beauty of the canyon from above. Along with Hennepin Canyon, this hike also offers nice views of the Illinois River and is especially great for bald eagle sightings during the winter. Connect with nature on this quieter, lovely hike.

Suggested Route:

Park in the Parkman's Plain lot (on the same side of the Illinois River). From the parking lot, start hiking down the trail. Go down one staircase and immediately turn right at the map.

Difficulty:

Moderate

Almost a three mile hike featuring a few staircases (can become icy in the winter).
